Channel Thrust Technology

Inspired by the way marine mammals move through the water, Mares Channel Thrust Technology is designed to channel water along the fin blade rather than allowing it to spill inefficiently off the sides. The result is greater propulsion from each kick while helping reduce unnecessary effort.

Full-Foot Comfort

The Avanti Tre uses a soft anatomical full-foot pocket designed to mold comfortably around the foot while maintaining a secure fit. Full-foot fins are especially well suited to warm-water diving and snorkeling where heavy-soled dive boots are not required.

Travel-Friendly Design

The medium-size blade keeps the Avanti Tre more compact than many larger dive fins, making it a practical option for traveling divers and snorkelers. The shorter, manageable profile also promotes easy maneuvering around reefs and other underwater environments.

FAQs

What is Channel Thrust Technology?
Channel Thrust Technology uses flexible channels in the blade to direct more water toward the rear of the fin during each kick. This helps convert leg movement into efficient forward propulsion.

Are the Avanti Tre fins open heel or full foot?
The Avanti Tre is a full-foot fin. The foot slides directly into the anatomical foot pocket, so there is no adjustable heel strap.

Are these good fins for travel?
Yes. Mares specifically describes the Avanti Tre's medium-size blade as well suited to travelers because it provides useful propulsion while remaining relatively compact.

Can the Avanti Tre be used for snorkeling?
Yes. Its comfortable full-foot pocket, maneuverable blade, and efficient propulsion make it well suited to snorkeling as well as warm-water scuba diving.

Should I wear dive boots with these fins?
These are full-foot fins designed to fit directly around the foot rather than over thick-soled dive boots. They are best suited to warm-water conditions where an open-heel fin and substantial dive boot are not necessary.

What makes the Avanti Tre different from a larger fin?
The medium-size blade emphasizes a balance of thrust, maneuverability, and packability. It is easier to travel with and control than many longer blades while still using Mares' three-channel design to produce effective propulsion.

Expert Insight

The Avanti Tre is a straightforward choice for warm-water divers and snorkelers who value comfort and easy handling. Its soft full-foot pocket and medium-length three-channel blade make it less cumbersome than many larger scuba fins, while Mares Channel Thrust Technology helps maintain efficient propulsion. It is particularly appealing for travel where fin size and simplicity matter.
